It’s tough when your end customer isn’t a “paying” customer. Fundraising is a constant effort for CGM to do great restorative work in the lives of people desiring to get out of poverty and homelessness. An old website was inadequately conveying the life-changing work, and online donation models were in serious need of upgrade and innovation. Their Donor CRM system did not have a viable responsive product offering to integrate online donations for mobile and tablet devices. We needed to capture the stories better, improve fundraising, make the site more accessible to younger generations, make the site work on mobile devices, and integrate to back end systems for donor tracking.
We began looking at our network of supporters, donors, volunteers, and partners with special attention to what data would show about where those parties would prefer various types of content and engagement. The “end customer” – the people that City Gospel Mission serves, isn’t really a website visitor, but the donors, supporters, volunteers, and partners sure are. We planned out content that would speak to each type of site visitor. One of the largest areas of work was on a web-based Catalog of Giving which provides amounts and options for donations that are directly tied to the service provided i.e. “$1.92 provides a warm meal and care to a hungry, homeless and hurting person”. This became the cornerstone of building out new donor logic. We developed a responsive donation engine that has a smart catalog of giving options. We also set up recurring monthly donations, which is critical for the ongoing life of the mission.
City Gospel Mission is now known as a leading mission in the USA in regards to serving people, mentoring them, helping create change in their lives, and in their progressive best practices in internet presence and marketing.
We’ve grown Sessions and Pageviews tremendously with the new site presence, and funds are being raised to support the Mission at leading rates. Change is happening in the lives of people in Cincinnati.
Sound Press is humbled and thankful to be a part of one of the most important parts of touching the Cincinnati area; breaking the cycle of poverty and despair – one life at a time.
